Unless same-sex marriage were passed at the end of time, there would always be another election coming up or another piece of legislation or another administration nomination. And any time the Democrats lose, it will still be because the uppity gays don’t know their place and keep thinking that we deserve equal rights.

I can only imagine what affect this will have on the confirmation of Elena Kagan. You can bet that if the court rules tomorrow that Prop 8 was unconstitutional, the conservatives will work overtime to thwart her confirmation in the last hours before the Senate votes on Thursday.

Too bad the trial ended too early to stretch this until after the election; if his ruling is favorable, it could make the Federal Marriage Amendment an election issue again. Of course, if he upholds P8, well, there’s no good time for that.
