Proposition 8 has become a symbol within our community. I'm proud to see so many people from so many other states (and perhaps other countries?) standing with us in California's struggle over whether to treat its citizens with equality and dignity.

I will be in WeHo tonight. It's been a while since I have been able to attend one of these.
I sure wish we could have watched the trial in real time. That experience, sitting in at WeHo City Hall was so edifying and...I don't think I could have felt closer to my loved ones in the community.

Whichever way it goes, it's always situations like this where I get hugged a lot and my cheeks chap from all the kisses. I gotta be with my peeps, the anti gay never cared about the feeling going on.
The terms of this issue is very selfishly expressed over and over.

The money spent on both sides, was the most costly issue in US history. Money that could have established a hospital or gone to families who were adopting children and most of those kids would have had a family to love them.
Amazing.
And all the while, Prop. 8 is the kind of law that isn't ACTIVE.
It doesn't and never did 'protect' marriage, families or children.

If anything, the Constitution itself cannot be compromised by discriminatory laws, and the protection of gay people FROM the tyranny of popular votes didn't even make into the discussion, but should be part of the legal precedent addressing SCOTUS in the future.
This law was based in fear and animus, and precisely and specifically targeted a group as distinct as blacks and Jews in recent history.

Considering the lack of evidence and credible witnesses to defend 8 in court, I can't see how the 11th circuit won't do much better in deciding in it's favor either. Without the evidence to take to that level either, how can it stand up even at SCOTUS?

   Anyway, my local friends.
Will I see you in WeHo tonight?
