For Humor Sake:

Can we prosecute NOM, AFA, FRC, Focus on the Family, The Mormon Church, Ex-gay anything and any other affiliates as domestic terrorist under the definition set forth by the Patriot Act:

Under current United States law, set forth in the USA PATRIOT Act, acts of domestic terrorism are those which: "(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State; (B) appear to be intended— (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and (C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States."[3]

Regardless on your take on homosexuality we are still part of the civilian population and Yes on 8 Ads seemed pretty coercive if you asked me.

You know, as much as I loathe what she stands for, her rancor on the various news shows I've seen wasn't really evident in this clip.

She was as reasonable as she's ever been -- she sounds much more intelligent.

Granted, she's wrong. Both about bigotry and that she's a bigot. And she's also wrong about our needing to know whether or not Judge Walker is gay. We don't need to know and if he is, it really doesn't matter.

If he has a boyfriend or domestic partner worth billions of dollars from a trust fund or inerhitance and the money can only be shared with a legal spouse, then, yeah, Judge Walker might have an issue of bias.

Somehow I doub that.

I'm not a fan of the "give the baby what it's whining about" strategy of "civil unions for everyone". Religion neither invented nor owns the word or the institution, so why on earth should we render unto the faithful what is caesar's?

There is no way in hell of an Anita Bryant moment happening with her. The pie wouldn't stand chance.

Think of the children Maggie -- your children, and the legacy you are leaving them. Too sad. Embarrassing.

yes, folks, in 1961 it was not considered child abuse to allow your 6 year old to walk a couple blocks to school in the Midwestern suburbs, my older brothers watched from a block behind

gee, guess my parents were soft, coddling liberals because i didn't start walking to school til I was 9, when we moved close enough for me to walk there and not take the bus. By myself.

Always remember, just a few decades ago, anyone not married in the Roman Catholic Church was not seen as officially ‘married.’ The Church owns the rite.

This offspring of a Lutheran pastor and his wife was considered a bastard and was called such as I walked past the parochial school on my way to public school. This happened to me daily with a nun watching. As a 6 year old in 1961, I did not know the meaning of the word and asked my parents what it meant. To say the least, the priest in charge of the facility got a phone call.

Actually, I suggested this strategy here in Maine. The government stops issuing "marriage" licenses and everyone get a civil union. All marriages conducted prior to the law and all marriages conducted out of state are automatically recognized as civil unions for purposes of state law. What other states choose to do with respect to recognition of that status is entirely up to them.
