“stick to their culture and reject Western ways tearing the church apart.”

... instead, allow us, the Anglican Bishops of Africa, to tear it apart.

If President Museveni really thinks that Europe is "finished", then I fail to see why he's so interested in continuing to receive aid from them (and the USA as well). Afterall, they're nothing more than crumbling empires, and Uganda is the shining beacon of hope for the future, it only makes sense that they should be fully capable of caring for themselves.

As it stands, the country would pretty much cease to function if it were not for the OVERWHELMING GENEROSITY of the 'morally bankrupt' western world. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you..

I wonder what kind of political maneuvering prompted this comment. We all know there is a reason behind this, and it is not because he had a change of heart.

Waiting for the shoe to drop...

I thought this statement from the Prime Minister of Uganda was good news, though you never know:

The Prime Minister, Prof. Apolo Nsibambi, has commended African bishops for rejecting the practice of homosexuality in the church. “I thank the church in Africa for being exemplary by not accepting homosexuality… they see that it is not acceptable in the society where they serve,” Prof. Nsibambi said yesterday during an opening service of the second All Africa Bishops Conference in Entebbe. He, however, added: “We should not persecute them (homosexuals) but I think it is wrong and we cannot recognise them because it is wrong like ordaining a gay bishop.”
