It shouldn't matter one bit as to the Governor's party affiliation. And Fukino's word should be sufficient as she's the custodian of the records. Governor's is a only a kicker. Why this cannot settle the matter leads to the most irrational discussions--Nordyke twins and 60s numbering, TWO natural born citizen parents, Indonesian dual citizenship, Dunham passports...insanity and wrong.

I spend a lot of time these days with birferism as it's immensely entertaining and the lawsuit scorecard usually shuts it down. Orly "Queen Birf" Taitz paid up the $20k. It's over, but the birfers don't seem to recognize this.

And it's off-topic. Sorry. Go gay marriage!

Jason,

It may also be worth noting that the Governor of Hawaii at the time is a Republican.

When i first heard of GOProud, I rolled my eyes and shrugged them off as something I'll never understand.

I doubt that I will ever align with their viewpoints, but I must say they are doing a terrific job of provoking just the sort of schism in conservative circles that this article describes. I think they may be doing us a great service! And for that, I thank them.

I think the era of using gay-bashing as a fundraising tool and as an election wedge issue to drive voter turnout is noticeably declining. Hating on "teh gheys" doesn't sell so well any more.

"must also not question the President’s citizenship even though he fails to provide a birth certificate or at least a copy of such document?"

The President has provided legally valid proof that has been verified by the state of Hawaii.
Most rational people accepted the fact that if the state of Hawaii is going on record, then the matter is resolved.

"and, yes, the left has their raving loons as well"

We've always had them and we always will. They stand on street corners and hand out screeds, their own or someone else's. No one pays them much attention and NO ONE bankrolls them to the tune of tens of millions a year.

That's the difference between leftwing wackos and rightwing wackos: $$$$$$.

I think the better question is not "if" Brian Brown will join them but "when" will he join them.

Timothy’s spelling is non-standard, though. In other words, he manages to spell the deliberately misspelled words wrong.

Hey, it's a talent.

I've seen it spelled both ways, and didn't realize that we now have a standard spelling for Teh Ghey (I still prefer the other without the "h" as I think it's more obvious - but whatever, I'll go along)

I use it with definition 3: "to satirize ignorant people who actually consider homosexuality to be a disease or mental illness." And, incidentally, when I type it I hear Margaret Cho doing a comedy bit about her mother.

"One of the most well-established conservative media companies in America is run by a homosexual activist."

What company is this?

As for "teh ghey," it ultimately derives from leet-speak and other forms of internet slang. "teh" is just the common misspelling of "the" -- a mistake mostly made by people typing furiously during an online video game or by slackers who don't proofread anything they ever write on forums and bulletin boards and whatnot. More self-aware online denizens started using "teh" deliberately to mock the kinds of people who make the mistake unintentionally.

As for "ghey," it may have started as a deliberate misspelling used by members of a group (in this case, uber-cool (in their own minds) online gaming geeks) to indicate their membership in the group. It may also have arisen because there have been many online games over the years that have censored "offensive" speech -- so that if you typed "f*ck you," it would appear as "&*$# you." Some of those games treated the word "gay" as offensive speech (because most of the time players were using it as an insult). So players came up with deliberate misspellings that would allow them to bypass the automated censors while still getting their meaning across. And then those misspellings became commonplace as, again, indicators of group membership.

So you definitely have people out in the world who use "teh ghey" as an insult. But you also have people who use it as a way to mock the people who believe that calling someone gay is an insult.
