Andrew Jackson was a jerk, so it’s not surprising he did that.

well, there’s gay people everywhere so I’m unsurprised we’ve had a gay president. I men, the MORMONS may have had a gay president holding some sort of high office in their political structure.

What would be the true accomplishment is an uncloseted gay president.

“Oh, he’s finally marrying that Senator? good for him. He’s got my vote because of his stance on campaign finance reform.”

Buchanan was indeed a confirmed bachelor. His 15 year roommate was Senator William Rufus King (who was vice President under Pierce). Andrew Jackson referred to them as Miss Nancy (King) and Aunt Fancy (Buchanan).

Actually I believe it was Buchanan’s, ahem, “housemate,” William King, who was referred to as “Miss Nancy”.

This appointment is a powerful reason why we should all come out if we possibly can and it is safe to do so. The more visible we are the better off we are.
