Well, now, what with unemployment over 13% in Miami, close to that all over the country… millions of Americans losing their homes to foreclosure, families living in their cars, children going to school hungry… substance abuse, domestic violence, skyrocketing divorce rate, Veteran suicides at a record number, fighting 2 wars and a 3rd about to kick off any minute, bipartisan extremism in Congress and a Hope that fades more by the day, I just don’t rightly know what’s the bigger threat to America.

But I DO know what the bigger threat to Porno Pete would be– a Saudi leather daddy site “for research purposes only.” Of course.

If those little christian grandmas knew where their donations to Petey’s “ministry” were going, they’d cut off his internet service. Not to mention other things.

What they want, more than anything else, is hegemonic religion. They want their religious views codified into law, where there is a discrepancy between what they believe and the law, they want the discrepancy eliminated. Look at his examples and how they are incompatible with freedom, “Christians being fired or dropped from college programs for opposing homosexuality.” College programs can not give a degree to someone who willfully rejects the education of her own discipline. Giving her a degree, and in particular a counselor’s licence, would be an act of fraud. The entire point of a college degree or licence is to prove said person has a minimum standard of education and training, if the person fails to meet that standard, the college can not give them a degree. It is a GROTESQUE violation of academic freedom to attempt to force a university to commit fraud.

As far as Christians being fired, it is, again, a gross violation of the company’s freedom to force them to retain employees that are creating a hostile work environment or do not follow through with company policy. The difference between this situation and ENDA is that without ENDA an employee could be fired for simply being gay, while an employee couldn’t be fired for simply being Christian.

Clearly Pete hates freedom with a passion.

I thought raidcal islam was the greatest threat in the world today.

I am less concerned about radical fundamentalist Muslims in other countries than I am about radical fundamentalist Christians in our own country.

Whether it is religious fundamentalism, secular intolerance, personal arrogance, racial compartmentalism, presumptions of heterosexual superiority, or any other segregationist and exclusionary attitudes, any time that you feel justified in forcing others to adhere to what you think is best with no consideration for differing opinions, you threaten freedom.

Close… Peter LaBarbera would like the Christian version of Sharia Law. Much the same except based on Levitical Law (with adjustment for Christian revisions).

Would that be “get Big Government out of my life?” As in stop Big Government mandated discrimination in military service, marriage, and immigration.

Next time any religious person complains about secularism taking over government or other entities in your country, tell them to thank what ever god they choose to belive in, because secularism is the only concept that gives them the freedom to thank, whatever god they choose to belive in, in the first place.
