The Dallas Morning News provides additional information. He will be sending an aide and the conflict appears to be genuine.

In lieu of a personal appearance, Sessions taped a video message that organizers will hold off playing until the end of the evening, in case he manages to swing by.

Unless he shows up (or perhaps videotapes a greeting), I doubt he'll be acknowledged in any way. That's my guess.

One irony that I think many not have appreciated is this: the meeting is a fundraiser for Log Cabin's Educational Fund. It is technically not related to Log Cabin's efforts to support the candidates they endorse.

(Like many "issue" groups, there are two entities, a political and lobby effort, and a educational program which can receive tax deductible dollars to be used to educate the public on issues)

In other words, Cornyn is showing up to raise money for Log Cabin to use in trying to spread pro-gay messaging, not to get Republicans elected.
