Sincere question:

Without criticizing, are we satisfied with the rezults and the rate of progress that those orgs are making?

Kindly, I am not.

While everyone is genuinely appreciative of all advocacy on the subject, including me; more is needed.

This may be more volume of the same strategies, however, it may very well be a need for wider variety of strategies, and clarity of message.

CAN we do more?

Can anyone add anything to the mix of tools and processes, or shall we rest on the status of current methodologies? I believe that any insight offered by all individual(s) and all entities must be entertained.

We who are left to observe the perpetual deaths of children obviously have durability.

Let us not squelch initiative. We must spark renewed momentum somehow.

Steve in Mi: It is unbelievable that a public official, and an assistant AG is certainly a public official, can be allowed to conduct himself in such a way against a law abiding citizen of the state. Clearly this sad little man is unbalanced and cannot be seen as fit to adequately serve the people of Michigan. I think he deserves someone to start a blog about him, pouring through the minutiae of his sad little life, exposing whatever peccadilloes he might wish to keep hidden.

He comes across like a spurned lover.

Here in Michigan, we are fighting an uphill battle to protect our children from bullying. It turns out that one of the assistant AG’s in our State Attorney General’s office moonlights as an Internet-based gay harassment agent.

If you have read my past posts re gay youth suicide you saw that I’ve given several examples of the homophobic hate directed towards me and my kids; Such as: “If it were legal I would stone you and all your gay kids to death” or “It is better for a gay youth to commit suicide rather then grow up and contaminate society” etc.
Following is a post [first one] I wrote about the suicide of Billy Lucas and comments regarding it by the same person.
I wrote other private posts to this person trying to reason with her but she remained unchanged.

[Nelson,s Comment] The blood of Billy and all those gay youth who committ suicide or are killed because of their sexual orientation will be on the hands of all those whose beliefs bully, ostracise, demean and deny these youth from having a normal, care-free, happy childhood.

I know I am waisting my breath on most right wing Christians because they will absolve themselves of any guilt. Their conscience has been brainwashed by Bible hate

A kid does not choose to be gay and then kill themself because they are.

I just saw the video “It Gets Better” from stop8.org from San Francisco. I wonder had Asher seen this, would he have chosen to live instead of take his own life.

I’m still in tears.

I wonder how many other kids are out there right now facing the bullying in school or ostracizing from friends, family, and churches … and they just don’t know that there is help and support out here.

I’m so saddened that these families teach such hatred that their children would do such a thing, and that these teachers and administrators didn’t take action to stop the hurt inflicted on Asher.

My God, what are we doing that a 13 y/o kid would commit suicide?

I think it may be more accurate to say that fundies see childhood bulling as a zero sum game. It’s either the gay kids or their kids, that’s why they fight anti-bullying laws. They assume that if gay kids are protected, their children will be bullied. Nevermind that anti-bullying laws have their goal as no child is bullied, but reality does not often register with that group.

I was super lucky to go to pretty liberal Catholic schools where calling other kids “gay” got students punished and there was just silence on the whole issue of whether homosexuality was okay or not. They only cared about making it clear that you can’t pick on others about it.

If my alma mater could toe that lie during the 90s when AIDS was always on the news, I don’t know why everyone assumes other schools can’t.
