What they did was despicable, but don’t they deserve the same punishment that should be meted out to anyone who chooses to violate someone else’s privacy by secretly filming and broadcasting sexual activity?

That is, they did not know, nor could they likely have predicted, that Tyler Clementi would go on to kill himself. Therefore, their actions would have been just as horrible if all that happened was Tyler moved out.

I cannot stress enough that this young man’s family should hold these two legally and FINANCIALLY responsible for the loss of a young, promising life due to their actions.

A felony conviction and doing serious time will change their lives and limit their lifetime options in ways they never thought about when they set out to cruelly expoit this poor 18 year old kid.

I just wish this guy lived to see his abusers punished for their depravity.

These kids have to be reached at their level with media like Dan Savage’s “It Gets Better” with stop8.org on YouTube. Somehow, someway, these messages must make it into mainstream media to save their lives.

I was at the stage of depression before and tried on 3 separate occasions. By the grace of God, I either didn’t really want to do it or was really bad at it, but I survived and can say “It Gets Better” 14 years later.

Anti-bullying laws are only as good as the justice system that protects us, and are only as good as the teachers and administrators do their parts.

The Trevor Project is another program dedicated to save children and young adults, as well as the Safe Zones that are in some school.

There must be pressure applied to Rutgers University to overcome these barriers and reach their population.
