My guess is that the attorneys for Ms. Miller may have a “power of attorney” on file, which gives them the right to act on her behalf and may allow them to proceed. The law is complex, there may also be some other loophole.

I realize that attorney-client privilege is (and ought to be) pretty much sacrosanct, but aren’t there some exceptions. If they know her whereabouts, given that she’s now wanted for kidnapping, are they not aiding and abetting a felony?

I mean I really don’t know the rules on this. Maybe some lawyer who visits here can speak to this.

I’m no attorney, but HOW can they act on her behalf if they haven’t talked with her in that time. I understand if the appeal was filed prior to her disappearance, but if filed afterwards, then how could she have approved the appeal?

Something smells fishy here.
