Gay people don’t do very much that straights don’t also do.

I once asked the members of a Usenet Newsgroup of mostly heterosexual musicians that seemed to want to believe the worst about me how much time they spent in the pursuit of sex. All of the ones that bothered to reply all seemed obsessed with it. I told them my life would make for some really boring reality TV. Sometimes I feel like posting links to some of the kinkier straight sex on X-Tube. My position is that I don’t have to behave any better or differently than anyone. I spend most of my free time between my church and community service because that’ what I want to do. And I still have a fairly firmly held opinion about how and why I became homeless at 16. At 55 I can say that it did get better for me and still is in every moment of the day.

That you think this is all same sex relationships are about shows how profoundly ignorant you are. Many same sex relationships have next to nothing to do with sex and people who only have sexual desire in common don’t form relationships and get married.

By the same logic you apply to gays and lesbians black people and natives should be discouraged from forming relationships and having children because they have higher levels of mental illness, substance abuse, domestic violence, promiscuity and STDs. As is the case with gays, this has nothing to do with a problem with being black, indian, or gay, its entirely due to the negative effects of discrmination and oppression by the majority.

By all reports, gay Christians entering into a monogamous and committed relationship have significantly reduced expectations of promiscuity, sexually transmitted disease, mental illness and substance abuse than do those who enter programs designed to “overcome” same-sex attractions.

Especially promiscuity and sexually transmitted disease. I’ve read the studies and they consider progress what they call “reduction in behaviors” but which anyone else would call “continuing to have sex with strangers, just less often”.
