T-dog, I checked the manufacturer's website and it is indeed an antibody test so yes the window period still applies. Tho I should add I have friends who specifically request a PCR test to avoid having such a long window period.

I'm overjoyed by this one-minute-test but isn't it still true that it takes several months for the HIV virus to settle in the body?
So even if you take the test the night after the "accident" you still cant be absolutely sure until a few months later?

The idea of getting tested in a van in front of a nightclub always personally freaked me out but yes a minute-test is great news and I agree it will make getting tested less agonizing.

There are places that actually use the 20 minute test? I've heard of that, but here in this midwestern college town, our local clinics still use the 2 week version. (Why a clinic and not a regular doctor, when I have good health insurance? Turns out the internist the insurance company picked as my primary care doc doesn't really like talking about HIV/AIDS or his patients' sexual health.)

I did get tested a few years ago, but chickened out during the waiting period and never went back for my results. Several boyfriends later, I'm now in the process of getting tested for real. I say "in the process" because I got tested last Wednesday, and have an appointment to get my results next Thursday. Merry Christmas, right? I'm pretty sure I'll go back this time.

My point here is not to complain about my own experience. It's to question whether this next newest testing system will actually make it out here to where the patients are. Goodness knows the last one hasn't.
