That West Point ring was a big, fat, steaming HOT POTATO on Harry Reid’s desk. He knows what it means to anyone who has earned one, and he wanted it off his desk as fast as possible. I don’t think giving the ring was contrived, but it certainly was a politically inspired move on Lt. Choi’s part. Anyway, the look on Dan’s face says it all about this fight to repeal DADT. He is a man who burns with desire to serve his country…now he’ll have the chance again. He is emblematic of thousands of others; we need them all and can rightfully be proud of all their efforts. The repeal will be remembered as the big political story of the year.

Lt. Dan Choi gave his ring to Harry Reid at NetRoots Nation this past Summer and asked him to hold it until DADT was repealed. No-one took it.

Actually I hope he goes into politics rather than back to the military. the world would be a much better place with guys like this in government.
