As (Republican blogger/columnist) David Frum put it recently: "We thought Fox News was working for us. It turns out we were working for Fox News."

It reminds me of something i witnessed on TV some years ago. Barbara walters was interviewing Harvey Fierstein. La Babs spent some time congratulating herself that she and her program were being so liberal in discussing the issues with Harvey. She said (not a quote)

"Isn't just great that we can discuss these things now? Aren't we really wonderufdlly liberal talking about them? We couldn't talk about them before."

Harvey responded;

"Of course you could talk about them before. There is nothing here that can't be discussed. YOU JUST DIDN'T WANT TO."

This senior republican senator has to remain anonymous to discuss these things?

Honey, of course you can discuss them publicly. YOU JUST DON'T WANT TO...

LEST IT ACTUALLY COST YOU SOMETHING TO STAND UP FOR WHAT IS RIGHT.

I'm sure it does Homer. When people label someone a wrongdoer it suggests they need to be punished.

I have wondered often whether the "acceptable" use of the words "sinner" and "pervert" to refer to gay folks contributes to the violence against us.
