If they have to cut health care funding for women and children, where are they going to get the money for defending a crappy piece of legislation like DOMA.

After all, Boehner is an Ohio Republican.

Republicans who are so vehemently homophobic they even included anti-gay language in Senate Bill 5 which is Ohio’s anti-union bargaining bill.

Oh, you’re right. I read that last paragraph wrong. He claims people who support DOMA wouldn’t be voting for Obama anyway, which is pretty ridiculous. Look at how many people voted for Obama in California, but still voted yes on 8. This is a huge boon for the Republicans in 2012, and I’m sure Boehner knows it.

The Hill:

The Speaker said that appointing a counsel to represent the House and argue for DOMA in court, as former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) has demanded, is “being considered.” He also said that passing a new law or some other resolution are under consideration, and lawmakers will decide how to proceed by the end of this week.

Both the Office of Special Counsel and the Office of Independent Counsel are persecutory in nature. (Special Counsel it attached to the AG’s office, so…!).

That suggests they are going to need new legislation, if they do not get agreement to handle it through the House’s General Council, if that is even possible, right?

In addition to authorization, it appears likely they would need funding.
