Agreed Regan. An apology would have been appropriate before being caught penis in hand in a public park. Now he’s just trying to lessen the anger directed at him. It’s the same manipulation of emotions he has used in the past to stir up anger.

I can appreciate being charitable, especially some of our Christian friends here.
But it seems that it’s the real reprobates, guys that have cheated their spouses and families, been closeted gays who have used their political or religious influence to do harm, or people whose hypocrisy has depths beyond the ocean, get claimed by the gay community in the spirit of that charity.

These are horrible people, they use their shortcomings, and turn and define gay people by them.
Ted Haggard is being featured in the Advocate and every time I see him, I can’t help but think of the YEARS he spent smearing gay people.
And since being caught: he’s not exactly been a champion. He’s still trying to build a church. Why does he need a church?

And this is ALWAYS after they are caught. How come these epiphanies and remorse are FORCED out of them through exposure, and not from plain old introspection?

I’ll reserve accepting anything from people like this until it’s a matter of it serving what’s right. Otherwise it looks like they are still only serving themselves.

He was not f*cking mean-spirited!

I bartended during Decadence in 2003. He would go up to people who are just standing around with their friends drinking with his bullhorn screaming about how they were “downing in the lust”.

He didn’t just want to be a pain. He wanted to shut down all of Decadence, which would have made NOLA lose millions after the dead season of summer.

I don’t even care about the anti-gay stuff. He tried to take away people’s livelihoods–gay AND straight! He didn’t even live in New Orleans!

My question is how long will it be before he claims to be cured of his addictions and starts going after gay people again?

I suspect this guy has more than one skeleton in his closet. Masturbating in public is one thing. Watching the kids while dating Miss KY is quite another.

And it is one more thing that convinces me that the more people obsess over the “dem queeahs” the more I think they are desparately trying to deflect attention.

It doesn’t explain the possible money whores, of course. But then, it doesn’t need to.

While children die in Darfur, Maggie makes a swell living defending and protecting her marriage against mine. She just doesn’t have a bullhorn.
