The more interactive Randy Thomas becomes, the more we evangelical atheists can reach out to him with the good news that evolution is a fact and that religion is a delusion, and that he should enjoy his one and only life to the full while he can… I really think it is dangerous to leave people like with their faith.

If I had read this anywhere else i would be expecting an announcement that he would be joining the cast of Ru Paul’s drag race next season and he needs to devote time to sow all the gowns.

As far as I’m concerned, Randy is in tricky space for striking out somewhat differently and/or independently. Ex-gays, even the most devout, long-term conservative Christians, aren’t seen as good candidates for ordination or other leadership duties on their home turf.

Christian establishment figures have to be looking at the likes of Ray Boltz and Louis Marinelli and (rightly) wondering which Exodus staffer might come out next, or come out in favor of civil marriage equality.

I just hope that Randy has non-filtered internet access during some of his non-Exodus-paid time now.

If Thomas is hoping to encourage his “pastoral, artistic and creative gifts …to grow and develop to their full potential”, it would appear that his idea of their full potential is what the rest of us would normally call a bonsai: looks nice, but in reality it’s stunted through being constantly cut back and restricted.
