I'm with enough already on this one. there may well be a support for equality coming from them. Perhaps some of them are gay.

but the bottom line is political-- if the nut cases and religious whackos pursue their vendetta aginst gay people at the expense of larger issues, the republican party and the donors' bottom line will suffer.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Frankly, I think there is a large group of profit oriented people in NY who have absolutely had it with their current status in the Republican party.
Once upon a time, you bought a politician and - being honest - he stayed bought.

No more. The New York Republican party is poised to lose and lose badly in 2012 in all but the most red-nex areas.

So let's be nice to these folks - several of whom have gay children, relatives and close friends. If, by doing this, they are lobbing the first attempt to bring the sane, financial wing of the Republican party back into more control, well - as I noted above:
The enemy of my enemy is, in this case, at least, my friend.

They're just atoning. These are the same Republicans who have been bankrolling the GOP in Congress that has tried to de-rail DADT repeal, block DOMA repeal, sink employment protection, healthcare, and defunds women's health services.

It just goes to show how selfish these people are. It either affects them personally (but they still vote Republican, so they try to wash their hands with donations), or it's good for their wallet.

Good to have their dollars. They're still repugnant pondscum and a large part of the reason why this country is heading down the drain while the rich rob the poor blind.

Sounds like some politicians are going to have a painful decision to make: vote for marriage, the more appealing choice to your financial base, or vote against, to appeal to your larger voter base. Keeping in mind, of course, that those voters don't really have anywhere else to go :)
