James,

I don't believe that God send tornadoes as a punishment either. But considering how often natural disasters dance around the gay folk and leave them just fine while mowing down the, ahem, less tolerant portions of the country, I am tempted to think that God has a wicked sense of humor.

Oh, and it's a given that God hates trailer parks.

And the very next day after the House voted to put the ban on the ballot, a tornado struck Minneapolis. Perhaps God is sending a warning that he/she is not happy with lgbt folks being oppressed by people claiming to be speaking for God.

Well, that's not really what I believe about tornadoes, but the right-wingnuts are always claiming natural disasters are "God's punishment." So I just thought I'd mention that claiming to know what God thinks is, well, a bit of a stretch.

Though video clips of it, and news items on it and its aftermath, are still quite accessible on the Internet.

All record of that prayer and the person offering the prayer have now been stricken from the official record on orders from the GOP. Officially, it never happened.

John,

No. It was a Christianist prayer deliberately intended to insult anyone who was Jewish or Muslim or atheist or of any other faith, as well as any who are ecumenical and considerate of other faiths, but it didn't mention gays or the anti-gay proposed legislation.

I haven't seen his opening prayer, but is it something that could be effectively used in campaign ads?
