Last Summer, Marcus Bachmann, husband and political strategist to GOP Presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) appeared on a conservative radio talk show to explain his views of gay people:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvwP4vHEc-I(at 3:36) We have to understand: barbarians need to be educated. They need to be disciplined. Just because someone feels it or thinks it doesn’t mean that we are supposed to go down that road. That’s what is called the sinful nature. We have a responsibility as parents and as authority figures not to encourage such thoughts and feelings from moving into the action steps.
And let’s face it: what is our culture, what is our public education system doing today? They are giving full, wide-open doors to children, not only giving encouragement to think it, but to actually encourage action steps. That’s why when we understand what truly is the percentage of homosexuals in this country, it is small. But by these open doors, I can see and we are experiencing, that it is starting to increase.
It won’t come as a surprise to anyone that Bachmann reportedly operates an ex-gay therapy program in Minnesota (via archive.org).

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. This story is a stark reminder that there are severe and damaging consequences when therapists try to ensure that boys will be boys.
When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.
In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.

Using the same research methods employed by most anti-gay political pressure groups, we examine the statistics and the case studies that dispel many of the myths about heterosexuality. Download your copy today!

Anti-gay activists often charge that gay men and women pose a threat to children. In this report, we explore the supposed connection between homosexuality and child sexual abuse, the conclusions reached by the most knowledgeable professionals in the field, and how anti-gay activists continue to ignore their findings. This has tremendous consequences, not just for gay men and women, but more importantly for the safety of all our children.
Anti-gay activists often cite the “Dutch Study” to claim that gay unions last only about 1½ years and that the these men have an average of eight additional partners per year outside of their steady relationship. In this report, we will take you step by step into the study to see whether the claims are true.
Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council submitted an Amicus Brief to the Maryland Court of Appeals as that court prepared to consider the issue of gay marriage. We examine just one small section of that brief to reveal the junk science and fraudulent claims of the Family “Research” Council.
The FBI’s annual Hate Crime Statistics aren’t as complete as they ought to be, and their report for 2004 was no exception. In fact, their most recent report has quite a few glaring holes. Holes big enough for Daniel Fetty to fall through.

“Does anyone actually believe this man is heterosexual?”
Only if they are delusional, and I doubt that even Michele could be that delusional . . . Yeah, you’re right, she probably is that delusional.

Why is he getting federal Medicare funds for his “therapy” which is not sanctioned by any medical, psychiatric or psychological authority or sanctioning body?

This is too easy.
He experimented as a kid and it was “dicisplined” out of him, meaning someone beat him with the Bible and/or a belt. He is my age and it is entirely possible it was both.

Like Pat Robertson who said years ago that they need to “enforce righteousness” on the LGBT community, Bachmann’s comment is very telling just how we’d be treated under a theocracy. It is very very scary. They are proposing a regime of persecution.

Picture it: While Michele is running the country into the ground, the First Lady will be running a Christian ex-gay counseling clinic in the White House.

This is they type of person that proved to me there is no god. It’s all fantasy. His life is consumed with it. He’s consumed with sickness. He’s sick because he believes in it. Religion is a form of mental illness. He sounds gay with that lisp. Imagine how sick it must be to be like him, being secretly gay and and spewing out this sickness. He’s mentally ill, there’s no getting around it. He makes me vomit. I’d like to meet him and laugh in his face. He’s evil. All people like him should be put on an island together so they can sit and pray for what they want and get nothing.

There is really no excuse for Bachman’s ignorance on the subject of homosexuality.
Not only are we quite normal, we have made great contributions to the societies in which we have lived, and we continue to support universal human rights…which ironically includes his right to expose himself as religiously inspired bigot.

I would like to share a bit of info with these “leaders”. In America, we have freedoms. Freedoms to think, freedoms to express, and freedoms to act as we please as long as we are not hurting anyone. If someone call tell me how someone being gay impacts my life in any way except the fact that it is “offensive” I would like to know. The fact is these “leaders” are persistently trying tying to legalize discrimination. They fight for it and call it sin.

The more that I read, hear or witness discrimination in the name of Christianity the more it loses it’s power to upset me. I am a mother of a straight and gay child. The message that Mr. Bachmann so freely shares does more damage than he will probably ever realize. Thankfully, my gay child was never made to feel wrong or sinful. This child went through much soul searching and understanding of self just as my straight child has done to become a fully formed adult. Why is it so easy to be so careless with the use of one’s words such as barbaric and say Christianity/God in the same sentence when discussing one’s orientation? I thank all of you who help our children be healthy, strong and honored.
