Regardless of one's personal religious beliefs, it is considered a measure of acceptance and tolerance if one gives a qualified gay candidate the same access as any other qualified candidate.

But what does it mean if one holds anti-gay religious beliefs and yet gives an UNqualified gay candidate access?

We are accustomed to politicians who have public tolerance but private bigotries. There are more than a few Democrats about whom that could be said.

Would this then be a policitian with private tolerance and public bigotries? And isn't this about the tenth time that we've heard of this? Perhaps this is becoming the MO of the Republican Party. Maybe they really are adopting what the lunatic fringe claims: hate the sin but oh please please find me a gay man for my campaign.
