Gays have known the "chilling effect" for as long as any of us can remember. We either stayed in the closet or came out and stood up for ourselves, sometimes risking everything. The deck has always been stacked against us yet we pushed forward. If they wanted to keep their bigotry closeted they should have stayed closeted.
