This straight veteran would like to thank all the gay veterans, because ya'll had to deal with a lot more crap than I did, yet still ya'll still served.

If I were a gay man, especially with the mindset I often had as a younger man who had been fewer hard things, I do not know if I could of done that.

Words fail me otherwise.

On another note, and in a separtae comment...

This line from the announcement above ticked me off in so many ways. "From this day forward, gay and lesbian osldiers may serve in our army with the dignity and the respect they deserve."

So, they deserve it today, but they didn't deserve last week or yesterday.

What a difference a day makes. 24 little hours.

All I can say about this young man's coming out video is "wow". Hankies don't begin to cover it.

I came out to my parents 40 years ago, and it was nothing like this.

That coming out video killed me. I also came out to my dad first and I was a sea of tears and the reaction I got was the same. I went back to that day on March 2002.

I can't believe this day has FINALLY arrived. I'm so happy for everyone in the military and my only regret is that I no longer wear the uniform too. Ah well. A new day has dawned and at least those currently serving and those who will serve can enjoy the freedom of this post-DADT era. Thank God!!!
