Timothy--cool! Small world.

It's true that NM law prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation. What a funny loophole, though, for such an establishment opening in a state without inclusive discrimination laws--bet the pro-discrimination set didn't predict that.

Los Angeles has had a number of various programs. I believe that Gay and Lesbian Elder Housing has had an "affordable housing complex" for at least the past half decade or so.

shalom,

My former roommate's family put his grandmother in Rainbow Vision for a while (she was heterosexual but they focus on filling a niche, they can't discriminate based on sexual orientation). Ultimately it wasn't a good mix - I understand she was a bit cantankerous so communal living wasn't ideal. But she did praise the facility.

Rainbow Vision in Santa Fe, NM is another.

Is it a gay senior center, or an LGBT senior center? Both this post and the article conflate the two terms, but they don't mean the same thing.

Ron is right. The center was running when I moved to Cathedral City nine years ago and it's where I went to ask for a local referral for a gay-friendly family doctor. They did better than that. I got a gay doctor my husband and I just loved. They seem to change the organization name every once in a while. It was Golden Rainbow Center-SAGE for 10 years but they're changing it to the "LGBT Community Center of the Desert". Maybe they already did. I was over there last Friday and didn't notice. It's been in 3 or 4 locations during my time in the PS area.

Simliar to what a friend was trying to tell me: geographically speaking NYC and Long Island are the biggest parts of NY because they have the most people. I'm still scratching my head over that one. LOL
