If Barney Frank treated his relationship as though it bound him to all of the same rules as a heterosexual relationship, this would have been considered a conflict, some resolution would have been determined, and now there would be no question of abuse.

But that might have require that Frank shift to another committee or that his power on the committee be curtailed. So Frank put his own power over any sense of decency and used homophobia to advance his career and that of his partner. He wanted to have his cake (complain about inequalities) while eating it too (taking advantage of those inequalities).

I don’t consider that a principled response. I don’t consider Barney Frank a principled man.

The fact is that both Republicans and Democrats are to blame for our current financial mess, the “Great Recession”. The fact that Mr. Frank won’t take any blame insults my intelligence. I loved the 60 Minutes segment shown a couple of weeks ago that informed the public that members of Congress are exempt from insider trading laws. Just call me an old cynic when it comes to money and power. Now what does Fox News have to do with any of this?
