You know, because an organization that is founded upon bigotry and the denial of human rights for minorities is exactly the same as a movement whose only goal is the establishment of human rights for a specific minority. It is sad that people like this man are given any sort of platform or authority.

By that same logic…are you in touch with your humanity when you live a completely unnatural life of not having sex at all?? Or worse…when a Priest rapes a child, breaking the law of the state and the spirit of the teachings of Jesus?? Where the hell is the “humanity” in that??

I have followed the polling of catholic laity about gays, contraception, etc. and was willing to believe that it was leadership that was corrupt and hate-filled. I am no longer so forgiving of ordinary catholics: they cannot deny the criminality of their leadership, their insane hatred of the LGBT community worldwide, and their murder of millions by HIV/AIDS by forbidding the use of condoms yet they sit in their pews and continue to finance these monsters, Sunday after Sunday. How is this any different than funding a terrorist organization? Where’s the vatican spring?

When the cardinals get together, I wonder if George wears earplugs. Otherwise he’d know that there are plenty of places in which the gay community and the Church – while not exactly friendly are at least able to peacefully coexist.

And those places are pretty easy to identify. It’s where the Cardinal may spout the church’s position on marriage, for example, but not in the press, not at political rallies, and not in terms dripping with contempt. Gay folks are pretty easy to get along with as a community. Pretty much all you have to do is NOT attack us. You don’t have to like us, just leave us alone and we leave you alone.

If George thinks that “the gay liberation people” see the church as its enemy, that is ENTIRELY his doing.

The Cardinal would seem to have missed his logic class. The positions taken by the various versions of the Klan were formal Anti-Catholic Policy positions of their organizations (Hierarchical organizations a while we are at it, not democratic, a distinction we might expect the Cardinal to understand.) The positions he ascribes to the gay liberation movement are positions taken by various individuals and not the formal policies of the community groups that run Gay Pride events in Chicago and other cities. Typically, these groups are fairly democratic, and would, for the most part, welcome individual Catholics, Catholic groups, and even a polite assertion by the local diocese that LGBT persons should enjoy the full protection of civil law and not be lied about or otherwise harmed by persons who wish to think themselves good Catholics.

The Cardinal has a gay nephew — his oldest nephew in fact — whom he calls a “fine man” while at the same time calling gay folks in general “intrinsically evil.” Now he has added the KKK to his unholy attack upon us, and I wonder — how will this man sit down to Christmas dinner with his sister, and her son, his nephew, and look that “fine man” in the eye and tell him he’s evil and like the KKK? Is there just no bounds and limits to this man’s depraved and illogical reasoning? I fear not.

Meanwhile, we gay taxpayers pay for the streets down which the Chicago march will go, while the Cardinal sits behind legal walls of not only tax exempt status but bankruptcy lawyers by the bushel to protect the ever dwindling assets of the Church subject to forfeit in their on going attempts to avoid culpability for their child-molestation rings. On top of all that, some 70% of Catholic lay people are demanding that the Church stop using collection monies to fund the prelates’ anti-gay efforts against their own kids and their nephews. It is this very behavior, on display since the dawn of the Church, that led to schism after schism, and the Reformation. There is no help from Jesus for that money grubbing foreign organization on these shores.

This looks like yet another salvo in the religious right campaign to pit African-Americans against LGBT people. Maggie Gallagher and others culture warriors have also made odd-seeming tie-ins between LGBT people and racists. I think we should be considering these types of statements as possibly/probably part of a strategy of pitting one marginalized group against another, though when the Religious Right comes out with this kind of crap, nobody besides me seems to comprehend it that way, at least judging from the bloggers that I follow and their commenters.

So people that love each other, desire life partnerships, marriage, family, children. and normalcy have lost touch with the human race? I can think of NOTHING more humanthan that.

The Pope wears Prada and ermine, lives in a palace, eats his meals with a golden fork, while millions of children all over the world starve and die.

The church forbids birth control, so millions of thirdworld Catholics have more children they cannot support. My gay brother supported a little girl in the Philippines for years so that her family would not sell her into sexual slavery to support them.

There are thousands of priest molestation cases world wide. the sexual abuse goes back for CENTURIES, documented in boccacio and Chaucer. Meanwhile, A Belgian bishop sees nothing wrong with “taking comfort with children”. Google the phrase.

Centuries of violent hostility towards gay people. And this joker compares a group of largely peaceful people, demanding that the persecution stop, especially that done in the name of Jesus — he compares us to the KKK, deidcated to violence and persecution.

It seems to me that the Catholic pot-entate is calling the KKKettle a Negro
