When I saw the headline “Archie gay comic sells out,” I was shocked and saddened. I thought you meant they backed down and made Kevin straight or moved him out of town.

Hey, have some sympathy for the moms. Think how you would feel, realizing you’re in the dustbin of history — not even worthy of a footnote.

PS, @ Not_Jughead: think of it as a paradigm shift — Archie comics have always been pure middle America.

Issue 16 is being bought by gay guys. I have a friend who purchased four copies, three of which he plans to give away–one as a wedding gift.

The real strength of the storyline will be told in sales of following issues.

For some time now I’ve seen these boycotts as free advertising for whatever these bozos are boycotting. Normal people hear about such ‘awful’ things, hear the name brand repeated, dismiss the ‘awful’ things as the ravings of lunatics they really are, and go buy said name brand.
So, AFA/’million’ moms/whomever, keep up the boycotts. It will help the economy!

Maybe the AFA's members rushed out and bought up all the copies to protect America's children from the harmful effects of exposure to two guys loving each other. The AFA wouldn't have noticed, though, if those guys hated each other. Whatever would those "Million" Moms do if they had to boycott the Kimberly Clark Company for a pro-gay infraction? I'm sure all those anxiety-riddled moms Depend on K.C.'s products to get through each day (and night).

And besides, it’s illustrated fiction. Add to this the Marvel and DC companies’ own gay and lesbian superheroes that have been around for years, and we have much ado about nothing this far into the 21st century.

I’m pleasantly surprised. While the idea of gay Archie characters made me happy I thought it wouldn’t sell as it has a very limited audience and kids these days still use “gay” to mean lame or bad.
