I'd really like to see the issue of same-sex marriage NOT be a political platform issue. .

This issue is far too much a devicive issue already. Support for civil and human rights such as same-sex marriage needs to come from grassroots as it is now and passed by state legislatures by state legisltures. Because it is done this way, the glaring light of shame shines upon its detractors and the grassroots can really SEE who their representatives are---Democrat and Republican. Losses among anti-gay leaders have been thus far are far greater in number than pro-equality leadership. And this makes me happy.
