It’s an interesting statement of a rather scary strategy. While very few people are real intellectuals, everybody believes that s/he is “no dummy.” Yet, the NOM strategy recognizes that so many non-dummies believe what attractive or popular people say. The distinction between attractiveness/popularity and leadership is very narrow. I want to believe that the US population is, as a whole, catching on to the blatant fear-mongering of the extreme right, and they’ve begun to resist it. This move by NOM to recruit “the beauty elite” for their propaganda may be the beginning of the right’s recognition that fear-mongering has lost its power. (On the other hand, the anti-equality cartoons used in Anchorage suggest otherwise.)

Oh my goodness, this is a huge scoop. So NOM’s market is the “non-cognitive elite” — or just the “non-cognitive.”

Don’t want peoples to do no them thar thinkin’!!!

Or: We need some not too bright role models for our base or prospective base to relate to! (Prejean! Palin! Balloon Boy’s dad!)

This seems very damaging to me. But maybe that’s just my brain talking.

Haha, I am struggling to understand what “non-cognitive” means, it is merely non-intellectual or is it about getting people to think with their genitals (instinct reaction)?
