There’s some instinctive part of me that is mistrusting this story. I could swear that I’ve heard the name Abbey Gooch somewhere before, perhaps a Dickens novel.

I too hate the homophobia represented by Gooch’s actions, but I don’t think they create probable cause to arrest her for assault. She may be a jerk, but she’s not worth tearing a hole in our Constitution. ;)

If even one LGBT human being is assaulted or threatened with regard to the appearance of this Republican antigay hate group, then federal investigators should immediately take Abbey Gooch into custody to determine her potential involvement in any hate crimes, or unsolved hate crimes.

And USF became one of the most conservative public universities in the nation after that. Only recently has it begun to shift a bit more to the middle. Somehow it seems that the whole Sami Al Arian witch hunt (which in many ways mirrored the anti-gay witch hunts of the 70′s) had a backlash effect and began the process of moving USF leftward.
