It sounds like a reasonable direction for the GOP.  

It would be a hoot to hear the Catholic Church and NOM squeal about being relegated to an ever-smaller pocket of conservative America. (I picture the LDS skulking quietly away from anti-gay causes as too expensive and a lousy investment.)

But where is the reasonable faction of the GOP that cares about facts and credible evidence when it comes to social issues?  Not in the Iowa GOP.  Not in Indiana, where Richard Lugar&#039;s decades of reasonableness just got voted out.

The only scenario which supports the party tacking in this direction, in my mind, is that Log Cabin Republicans spearhead an intra-party campaign to counter the Tea Party and give voices and power back to moderate Republicans.

That sounds like a good idea, but it&#039;s not going to happen without a hellacious fight.</description>
