Obviously the Chevy ad was in fulfillment of a secret clause in the auto industry bailout deal that Obama forced on them in furtherance of the homosexual agenda. That’s been Obama’s goal in pushing the bailout deal all along.

While it may seem that JCPenney and other retail outfits are reaching out to gays, they are really reaching out to the much larger and coveted younger/hip demographic market that is increasingly pro-gay and anti-bigot. As I understand, one of JCPenney’s problems was that their market was comprised of an aging demographic, and we all know where that leads. It’s similar to a TV show with decent ratings that gets cancelled because mostly old people watch it, and that’s not who advertisers, other than Depends, want to reach.

So, I’m guessing that as the One Militant Mom continues her arm-flailing anti-gay frenzy, the progressive retailers will look even more appealing to the demographic they seek if they visibly thumb their noses at her.

Re: JCP: they’ve said that a lot of the downslide in performance was expected and the result of their efforts to rebrand the company. No matter what OMM says, only an idiot would believe they have any impact.

As for corporate America in general, whatever its faults, it’s very good at figuring how how society is trending, unlike the religious right. When your success depends on knowing where consumers are coming from, you pay attention.

I rebuked the old crazy man, and told him it had everything to do with their coupons and nothing to do with Ellen. Unfortunately, there is another side to this story: the sharp same-store sales decline of 19% for first quarter that JC Penney announced a couple weeks ago.

The American Family Association is now claiming that its boycott of JC Penney is working and is responsible for the store’s declining profits.

If JC Penney sales don’t improve, and/or JC Penney mgmt starts to believe that its sales misfortune is due to its gay rights support, then you’ll see Penney’s return to its old ways and back down. That would be a very disappointing setback.
