I have always responded "I have the same rights regardless of whether it's a choice or genetic." I get a little antsy at the idea that somehow it's okay to be gay if it's an accident of birth but not okay if you deliberately chose it. I don't think I've ever known anyone who chose it, regardless, as opposed to it just being who you are. But I almost feel as if we're playing "their" game when we let the argument be about choice or genetics as opposed to simply equality and equal treatment under the law.

Great article. Still my favorite response to "but there is no gay gene, it must be a choice" is always "Did you pick your fingerprints?" After all science shows those are not encoded your DNA either.

Thanks Mark. Link added now.

(I do that far too often. I also forget to attach the attachments to emails before I hit "send" almost every time I send one. Someone could do a thesis on that, I'm sure.)

"Nature loves diversity, society hates it" - Dr. Milton Diamond

I like this, it's pathetic to deem who a person is merely by their genitals. People need to get their noses out of other people's pants, and spot yelling at us to "act our gender". And if I may add, no one has found a "straight gene" ether.
