It has also been reported (Politico had a piece awhile back - I can't find the link) that major donors, in some case 7 figures, to the President's super PAC almost completely shut down after the White House meeting on why they wouldn't be issuing an ENDA executive order for Federal contractors. A couple of weeks after that the President "evolved" on marriage. I used to think that one didn't want to upset folks from Chicago - they would get even. I've done a 180 and now think the only thing that gets their attention is bare knuckle politics. I think the timing was very related to fundraising issues.
