NOM seriously cracks me up; if you read through the article and into it, NOM will be eventually "boycotting" all large corporations. And, at that point, they won't be able to scream BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!

Nathaniel, if you think the idea of "serving coffee for Jesus" deserves a snigger, then "transubstantiation" must make you towel off your screen. :)

Hyhybt, any company governed by any other sort of Christian principles would probably not advertise it. Those that need to self-righteously proclaim they are working for Jesus usually have some very narrow views of who and what Jesus would find acceptable. But, I do have to snigger at the idea of serving coffee for Jesus.

It's an odd thing... neither being "stewards of God's many blessings" nor being "governed by sound Christian principles" requires opposing gay people in general or marriage specifically, yet something about the phrasing of the quote still manages to strongly suggest that yes, theirs is *that kind* of Christianity. Like the famous description of porn, it's not quite definable, but you know it when you see it.

Please Email Jitters and Bliss Coffee to let them now they are contributing to a hate group that has a blog with the most despicable homophobic slurs and bigoted posts on their website.

I just have this sneaking suspicion that it isn't much of a concern for them.

Jitters and Bliss' Mission Statement:

As stewards of God's many blessings, we strive to be a world-class purveyor of fine coffees by delivering outstanding quality, service, and value to each of our customers through a family business governed by sound Christian principles.

"And although more than 80,000 have signed a petition thanking General Mills for their position, it is strongly suspected that some of those signers are not traditional families anyway, and are not really the food company’s target market."

Wait, what? I guess I forgot that gay people don't actually eat food, and thus would not be General Mills target market...

Jitters and Bliss, just like the coffee I use to drink in my favorite Southern Baptist church as a boy. It gave me jitters and they told me it was bliss. You gotta just trust those folks no matter what even if what they say just does not add up, unless you are talking about the teen suicide rates and they just keep adding and of course they are going up every day! So why can't I get the jitters when I get married? Oh silly me all I have to do is drink the coffee! But wait I still can't get married. Oh I can pretend just like when drinking their coffee such bliss!

The people on the NOM Facebook page weren't happy when I posted the wedding photo of Chris Hughes, one of Facebook's founders, and his husband.

NOM is looking just ridiculous nowadays. Sort of like those old news footage of people smashing and burning Beatles records.

Actually where I live, alternate coffee shops are thriving. Something called "Tom N Tom" is popping up everywhere.

But then again, I live near Koreatown and Tom N Tom considers itself to be a "FAMILLY SITE" and it's website says that it is "The Best Food Service Commpany". Somehow I don't see them seriously threatening Starbucks, but it's great having them here.

God, I love living in a diverse and culturally rich city. There's something about the sincere desire to assimilate and missing it entirely - like shooting for beige and ending up with fuchsia - that fills me with joy. It's close enough to be familiar and welcoming, but with all the fun and flavor of something new.

I may just have to stop by today and get a Long Black.
