I think if I was in Utah I would lead an effort towards Civil Unions then. It is better than nothing which is what they have now.

Here’s the thing that will ultimately undermine the anti-gay-marriage movement: marriage is conservative. Anyone who is conservative should be rooting for everyone to be married. Once you get past the fact that you can’t will gay people to stop existing, the conservatives will have to conclude that the best “place” for them is… in a marriage.

Which means that the battle ultimately is over whether or not gay people should exist. That ship has sailed. The other thing about conservative groups – especially Mormons and Catholics – is a tendency toward larger families. And we know that demographically, younger folks are more comfortable with gays than their elders.

It’s like they’re doing the work for us. And that’s very much appreciated.

If this trend continues we might see a gay Royalty Float in the Mormon Pioneer Day parade next year.

I’m not ready for that yet. It would mean we’re getting close to Armageddon and that Angel Moroni dude will finally blow that horn.
