Bloody hell, the culture war is now turning into an actual shooting war. And Perkins, NOM etc al will be able to fundraiser millions off this incident as "proof" that we gays are attacking their way of life.

Just plugging back in to the world today--hadn't heard before now.

I walked by the building several times when I was in DC in May. Gave me the creeps every time I saw their slogan, "Defending Faith, Family and Freedom." After the third time passing, I finally tried to read the name of the organization from the flag. Once I saw FRC, I stopped walking by it for fear that I'd spit on someone walking out of it.

Could not convince my partner to start making out with me in front ;)

I second Rob. Dropping by BTB today is the first I've heard about this. I hope the guard recovers, and I'm glad there is a suspect in custody (now let's hope he's the right guy!)

At the same time, like any and all civil rights movement past and present, the common trend will be towards more and more frustration, anger, civil disobedience, and even minor instances of violence.

Isolated protest -> Widespread protest -> Isolated non-violent civil disobedience -> widespread non-violent civil disobedience -> Isolated violence -> Widespread violence.

That is the path all civil rights movements have followed. So far, the Gay Civil Rights Movement is the longest running movement where federal equality hasn't been won.

It's no wonder that LGBT men and women are becoming more and more angry. To be treated as a second class citizen in one's own country is intolerable. While there are those of us who will not become violent and while violence has no place in most of our lives, violence is going to happen when people who have been victimized their whole adult lives are unable to contain their anger, pain, and anxiety.
