We need to always behave better than our opponants, which is why I was horrified when certain people suggested that Chick-Fil-A ought to be denied a business license because of Mr. Cathy’s views and political activities. Never give them any rope they can try to hang us with!

Like gar, I’m very glad to see the major organizations of our movement come out in denouncing yesterday’s shooting. Hopefully it will blunt the inevitable “gays=terrorists” message that Joseph is anticipating (as, sadly, am I).

Neil’s also right that you never hear a peep out of NOM, FRC, etc. when it’s somebody our side who’s the victim of a shooting like this. Know who else’s voice you won’t hear either? The NRA’s.

This is such a contrast to FRC who, far from condemning Uganda for proposing a death penalty for gays, opposed the State Dept. from taking a stand against it.

When has FRC ever denounced acts of violence against lesbians or gay men? I’m not saying they’ve never done it. It just strikes me that such concerns don’t seem to register with them. I’ve certainly never seen a coordinated response by these family values orgs across the board like this. They didn’t have much to say in support of Lawrence King, if I recall correctly.

Of course the FRC is going to label this as gay terrorism and play the victim card for all it’s worth.
