Being from Asia where homosexuality is banned, and some affirming church cant even publish their location and be anonymous, i say "wow" to these hacktivist.

They seem to operate on a virtual world of the internet where there are no borders.

Their motto is intriguing: -

We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not Forget.
We do not Forgive.
Expect Us.

which is opposite to my Christian Faith of forgetting and forgiving but reflective in a world by the oppressed seems to find no hope.

I bet it is a Western outfit and Westerners could surely do more to help those in Africa and Asia in the right way of course.

It brings me to reflection, how many are a "legion", how many of us gay people living anonymously in Asia and Africa (away from the freedom in the West) and crying out in one way or another whether in the right or the wrong way.

Thanks for this Jim. I was dismayed by Anonymous's action as soon as I read about it.

The whole tone of the hacking is so crude and full of immature braggadocio. A good action should have a clear goal and should make some contribution to achieving that goal. This just seems like self-important boys picking on easy targets for the lulz and I feel deep concern for the LGBT Ugandans who will have to deal with the fallout.

You have to think that the Secretary of State praising the LGBT activists in the presence of government officials is certainly going to be persuasive - very persuasive.

But hacking a website... not so much. It's not much different from graffiti vandalism all dressed up.
