Although NOM pretends otherwise, they are largely a religion-based outfit, aren't they? So, when NOMers inevitably invoke the legendary power of prayer, wouldn't you expect their anti-gay God to give them better material to work with than lies?

And if God is AWOL, what about Robert George, one of NOM's co-founders, and McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University? With such a high level of intellectual firepower, why are lies the best they can summon to protect the vitally important sanctity of heterosexual marriage & divorce?

Sharing the lies is the hardest part. Not because I have disinterested friends, but because accepting a lie is so much easier and so much quicker than investigating for oneself. I've always felt that was our biggest challenge in this.

I wonder how is NOM ranking now that some of its secrets are out and their rhetoric has been taken to a new level. I am not kidding and it bears a 2nd look. I have a feeling they are dangerously close to crossing that line. Would be interesting to see a good analysis of how the new information and their actions from last year stack against the SPCL standard.

Sometimes don't you wish that their version of God - a vengeful disciplinarian who can't wait to punish those who disobey his commands - was actually true?

"Brian Brown... my book told you not to lie. And you lied. And lied. And lied. And now you're going to BURN. FOREVER!!!"

Nah, I can't even wish that on Brian Brown.

My family became members at SPLC's FOUNDING. I'm still a member. There have been three other anti hate or defamation groups I've belonged to for a long time.
And since 1992, a member and volunteer with Simon Weisenthal.
Whenever I have visitors, I take them there, and encourage EVERYONE I know to go there.

NOM, FRC, don't understand what advocacy for SOCIAL JUSTICE really means.
Because they don't engage in it.
Were they truly advocates FOR marriage, their political agenda would be to strengthen laws against domestic violence or child abandonment.
They'd engage the public in SHARING marriage with everyone restricted by the basics already set against coercive, non consent, or redundancy.
Lies, defamation and fomenting stereotypes is just part of the criteria for the hate designation.
There is also participating in political and social action that supports discrimination or advances it directly.

The anti gay have criticized the NAACP, the SPLC and other groups VENERATED for their work in securing the rights of others and weakening the power of dangerously militant groups.

Recently, I was criticized, AGAIN, for comparing the struggle for civil rights with that of blacks.
I asked my detractors what they know, that the warriors of social justice like Coretta King, or Julian Bond or Rep. John Lewis didn't know?

Brian Brown, and Tony Perkins are paper tigers. Men who have NEVER had to take any risks, but to hear them tell it, it's their ilk who are at a socio/political advantage, and bear a great many risks for being Christian in this country.
So, it's not only their lies that are ridiculous, it's what they think of THEMSELVES and their place in this country and how the convince others of that place that truly deserves ridicule.

Because Matt Barber apparently knows something more about the civil rights movement and who owns it, than the aforementioned civil rights movement veterans.

This shooting isn't even a tragedy really compared to the others that preceded it. Certainly not of the scope of the WI at the Sikh temple was.
I got a booklet from an anti hate group on how many hate crimes have been committed against Sikhs in this country in just the last ten years.

And Perkins taking all the gravity from what hate and hate crimes and who is most impacted, is in itself a disgrace on his part.
