I picture Mordor. There is a terrible confluence occurring: nationalism, the Orthodox Church(es), pandering politicians, an inferiority complex about no longer being relevant on the world stage, and not enough Jews left to blame for all of their problems. The naked brutality and hatred I see in the news pictures is soul-crushing. It's like being the only opposing fan in a country full of soccer hooligans. And the police stand idly by. I wish we could airlift their LGBTs and allies out and let the savages beat each other to death. A black cloud is drifting over the former Soviet Union. I picture Mordor.
