At least the opponent seems smart enough to recognize that someone is making a fool of himself, and maybe even is smart enough to capitalize on it a little, hence the comment.

In Alabama, the differences between Democrats and Republicans are minimal. Basically, they are all conservative. “Liberal” is used as a common pejorative.

Based only on the creepiness level of that candidates family photo – I wouldn’t vote for him.

I voted “write in candidate” on my absentee ballot three times this year – which is a new record. Sometimes there really is no choice.
