You forgot LetThePeopleVote.com, which was their “grassroots” effort to roll back gay marriage in NY via a referendum. You may recall they repeatedly pledged to spend $2 million in NY for this campaign. Their spending has been less than $100K, and that includes direct contributions to candidates by certain of their known individual supporters. As far as I know, they have never offered any explanation as to why they have broken their promise.

Also, on the matching pledge, their totals have been updated in a manner that suggests the whole thing is a sham. I have seen that total leap up by huge amounts in less than a day. What this suggests is that they are simply taking their regular donors’ large donations and allocating them to this campaign so as to claim victory. Had this campaign really been driving many small donations, the tally updates would have looked very different.

But how long will John Templeton KEEP funding them? He may have the deep pockets, but if the Supremes knock down DOMA section 3, Templeton might decide he’s not getting enough bang for his NOM buck.

Well – the Catholic church in particular has less deep pockets than they once had. I mean, after all, the Vatican has been running deficits for the past several years.

Paying off those abuse victims put a big dent in the finance of the Church of Rome.

And the Catholic churches all over the nation are seeing a decline in congregants. I love it!

Here’s a little NOM update that I haven’t seen reported yet.

The home page of nationformarriage.org has been broken for at least a couple of weeks for anyone who is using Trend Micro for malware blocking.

The issue is happening, from what I’m seeing, on the home page only, because that is the only one which uses stylesheets housed at the domain nomresources.com. When one goes to the Trend Micro Site Safety Center (global.sitesafety.trendmicro.com) to inquire about nomresources.com, it’s been reporting it as “Dangerous” and “The latest tests indicate that this URL contains malicious software or could defraud visitors.”

Without the stylesheets, the nationformarriage.org home page spreads downward, making all of the page text available only after showing each item in the slideshow separately… in other words, it’s incomprehensible for people who don’t know what’s going on.

The curious thing to me, as a web developer who’s resolved glitches like this for clients, is that none of NOM’s supposed millions of supporters seem to have pointed the problem out to them, and/or, they’ve been told, but lack the combination of competence and resources to fix it.

Bottom line, it’s an odd thing for an org running multi-million dollar budgets.

Now that Starbucks has their “blonde” roast–which tastes like actual coffee and not what you scrape off the bottom of your pot after you left it on for four days–I will sometimes get their coffee when I am traveling. But still only if a local coffeehouse isn’t around. :)

Probably have been there more this year than in years past.
