If you read the most recent article at the Milwaukee Journal, you will find that there are starting to be some interesting changes in his story. In the first reports he described the individual, now he says he didn't see the attacker. In the first story he says someone came in through an unlocked door, and now it's he heard a knock and some one forced themselves in when he opened the door, the first story says he spoke to the FBI, the other says he has not. Also, did this person call the Police first or the Daily Caller first? The photos of him are by the Daily Caller and were taken on the gurney before going to the hospital. He claims his eyes were swollen shut, but we see clearly in the first response photos that that is obviously not the case. This stories changes are disconcerting if one believes him. And just further signs that this is a political attack a la the John mcCain backward B story from 2008.

Regan, I get what you are saying, and agree that gay on gay crime could still qualify as hate crime. Nevertheless, this person claims to have been targeted, not primarily because he is gay, but because he is a Republican. I suppose we could go further and say it was because he is a Gay Republican. However, it is clear from the account that he would not have been victimized without the "republican" component.

Tomothy, you are still a tool. You don't believe we all have a right to Health Care that is affordable? That's part of my party's platform. We believe it IS an individual right. Any right granted to us as citizens IS an individual right, even when given to us as a collective.

Oh, that's right, your Party thinks dying in the street because you can't get care is an individual's right to die.

Timothy, I don't know what you are smoking, but when I read his positions on his website, I certainly believe repealing the Affordable Care Act, making medicare into a voucher system, extending the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthy, and slashing the GSA and other federal programs certainly takes away individual rights. Not to mention his undying support for current Republican Leadership. We all watched the Republican Debates, and supportting ANY Republican leader means taking away rights, or at least saying you want to take away rights.

Robert,

Would Chad Lee deny individual rights? His website makes no mention of social issues at all - not even a mention of 'family'. Do you have a better source,

Correction Eric, Wood specifically said what kind of epithets were used in the vandalism, the implication being that gay men were the perpetrators.
And the suspicion being that it's gay men who beat him up.

This kind of runs the question up the pole: if the crime was committed on someone of the same minority, is it still a hate crime.
There are no hate crimes statutes for individual political affiliations.
But the anti gay have a pathological need to be victims of gay people, no matter WHAT it is.
But for the orientation of the victim, and the assumption of it for the perps, this would otherwise just be called assault and battery, not a hate crime at all.

I have noticed that, if any acts of assault have been committed by gay people of late...there is hardly the level of violence, cunning or escape involved that has been perpetrated on the gay community. To say nothing of how EXTREMELY rare it is, as a political statement.

Regardless that most gay people have fought or fought back with due process of law, even these perfectly legal avenues of complaint and redress are decried as bullying, militant and threatening.
So, I'm willing to wait also until further information comes out.
And it's fair for there to be skepticism, considering how desperately the anti gay behave in order to defame the gay community.

gsingjane said: "If this guy was legitimately gay-bashed, we’ll all feel dumb and maybe believe the next guy a little more quickly."

Except that he does not claim to have been gay-bashed. He claims to have been attacked for being a Republican.
