		<description>That Grier is very inspiring.  As is her mother.  The homosexual/lesbian line was hilarious and her support for her daughter is lovely to see, especially given the era.</description>

They were adopted to thwart open and wholesale  corruption in state legislatures.

In practice, however, they have been used almost exclusively for mischief. Think LaRouche, think Anita Bryant, and so many more.

With more than a century of poor examples at hand, and corruption still a norm in many places, we need to admit that these tools haven&#039;t worked as intended, and rescind them.</description>
