Priya Lynn, Laura and Rob Petrie did have a son, Richie. He did not appear in every episode and the show was not oriented around the dramas of the child. One of the funniest episodes in my memory was when Rob went to Richie's school for "Career Day" and had the most difficult time explaining to the kids what a comedy writer is!

I was going to say Laura Petrie but I didn't think she qualified as a mom because she didn't have any children although I do refer to myself as a "stay at home mom" even though I don't have children.

Favorite sit-com Mom? Has to be Mary Tyler Moore as Laura Petrie on the Dick Van Dyke Show (which I only watched in reruns of course).

I'm amazed you didn't mention Patrick Murphy as being one of the lawmakers who saved the repeal of DADT.

I'll second Samanta. Uncle Arthur was the best, and I loved sweet, sweet Aunt Clara.

I'm casting my vote for Darren #1. I always thought he was better looking, even if he is a bit more whiney.

She had a great kitchen too, with that Frigidaire "Flair" range. And the most interesting relatives.

Her "second" husband was definately more interesting than the first one.

"So, BTB’ers in a lighthearted mood, who is your favorite sit-com mom?"

Samanth Stevens on Bewitched. I thought she was hot and she could make all your dreams come true.

December 22 is Barbara Billingsley's birthday. Men of a "certain age" will remember her as the always stylish mom on "Leave It To Beaver." I had such a crush on Wally, one of my first obviously gay traits! She died in 2010 at age 94. I met her at an event in 2002 and found her charming.

So, BTB'ers in a lighthearted mood, who is your favorite sit-com mom?
