I tried calling again today and the machine said they weren't accepting any calls at this time, and the mailbox wasn't accepting any messages. So, if you do want to speak out, I guess the best way would be email.

I emailed them yesterday and tried calling but the line rang and rang with no answer. I'll try again today.

As I posted below, I am so, so happy and excited that this day looks like it might finally get here. After we were so disappointed last summer, I really figured that was it for another decade.

As I also mentioned below, I have an 85 year old friend who was dismissed from BSA for being gay. Since then he has worked tirelessly to get the organization to see the error of "the policy." I can't tell you how thrilled I am, that this change may indeed happen in his lifetime.

The best thing about this is, the great experience of Scouting will now truly be available to "all."

I'm a conservative, Mormon grandmother, but I believe this country was founded on the right to the pursuit to happiness. My ancestors came here for religious freedom in 1632 when those practicing pagan religions were being burned in England. Our Constitution set up the Bill of Rights to ensure freedom for everyone. I was a girl Scout from Kindergarten through high school and loved scouting. Please don't deprive a person from this wonderful experience who truly wants to be a part of the organization and is doing nothing illegal. By most research studies, Gay, Lesbian, Transgendered people did not choose this. It is thought to be genetic. Would you deny admission to the program to someone because of eye, skin, or hair color? I hope you can update your bylaws to reflect modern thought on who can participate, while still keeping the traditions that make scouting a place to build great minds and spirits!
