> Or an anti-anything florist, for that matter.

There was the florist who refused to send flowers to "evil little thing" Jessica Alquist. So it does happen. Rare, though.

The weirdest part to this whole new argument about florists and cake shops and the like is that they have ZERO to do with gay marriage being legal or not. Case in point is the recent cake shop who refused to sell a wedding cake to a lesbian couple in Oregon. Well guess what? Gay marriage isn't recognized in Oregon. Gay (non-binding) wedding ceremonies are legal in all 50 states and always have been. The reason why that couple has sued in Oregon is because of its anti-discrimination laws. But I suspect that even NOM realizes that businesses fighting for the right to discriminate against gay people in general is not going to garner any sympathy, so they make it about marriage.

When did the florist argument suddenly become so popular? I don't recall ever hearing this argument being used in the Bush years. Back then it was always about the bible this and the bible that but suddenly this year the argument from florists seems to be the most popular fallacy against gay marriage.

I cannot say that I have ever met or even heard of an anti-gay florist. (Or an anti-anything florist, for that matter.)

Come to think of it, of the several florists I've known over the years, at least a couple were gay.

Even for those that aren't, When people being in relationships, more people being able formalize those long-term relationships or even get married and shit means your business goes up, you would tend not to ask too many quesitons or be too judgemental, I would think.
