Senator Saxby Chambliss has acknowledged that the slur/threat posted on JoeMyGod did originate from his office. The individual responsible has not yet been identified. (AJC)
“The [sergeant at arms] has worked side by side with our personnel to determine whether the comment in question emanated from our office. That appears to be the case,” an unsigned statement from Chambliss’ press office read.
“There has not been a determination as to who posted the comment,” the statement read. “That part of the review is ongoing, and is now in the hands of the Senate sergeant at arms.”
It is encouraging that Chambliss appears to be taking the situation seriously and has decided to involve the Senate Sergeant at Arms.

I love how our government works, rather ask each individual “hey did you write these comments?”, instead it’s an investigation, followed by another investigation, then turned over to this sub panel who will make a recommendation on some blah blah blah…

I’d like to know why the FBI is not investigating. After all, one would expect that they have vastly more resources than the Senate Sargent-at-Arms.

No one will Ever be Held responsible (by Republicans).
Just like in the case of Billy Lucas’ Death in Greensburg, IN.
Republicans only do right when forced to do so.

If any of us made the exact same threat against Senator Chambliss, or any of his staffers, you can bet we’d be getting a visit from the FBI in very short order.
I will expect the same treatment for the staffer responsible. But of course, as Rob notes in the first comment, we’ll never find out who that staff is. Already, as noted, it’s being handled by the Sgt. at Arms rather than the FBI…”so’s we can control the outcome.”
